183 Million Email Passwords Exposed in Massive Data Leak, Including Gmail Accounts
More than 183 million email credentials, including millions of Gmail accounts, were compromised in a significant data breach. The leak, detected by Have I Been Pwned founder Troy Hunt and security firm Synthient, stems from infostealer malware rather than a direct server breach. Google confirmed its servers remained secure, attributing the stolen credentials to infected devices.
The 3.5 terabyte dataset contains 23 billion records, with 16.4 million email addresses newly exposed. Approximately 91% of the leaked data originated from prior breaches. Users are urged to verify their exposure on HaveIBeenPwned.com and enable two-factor authentication immediately.
